PRECIOUS PAGES: Book Launch September 20 @ SMX MOA

The Manila International Book Fair 2015

While the bookworms were busy shopping around, we dropped by the activity corner where the program of Precious Pages already started. The activity was loaded with fun and prizes. See this one? The woman blind folded to pin the heart to this Macho man on the right corner.

An Interview with The Authors

Books that will make your heart skip a beat! Precious Pages Corporation (PPC), publisher of the popular Tagalog romance pocketbooks Precious Hearts Romances launches its new selection of romance novels at the country’s biggest gathering of writers and publishers book event, the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF).

Headed by publishing titans Segundo “Jun” D. Matias Jr. and Richard Reynante, PPC shows no signs of slowing down. Less than a year after celebrating their 25 years, the well-loved publishing company churns out another set of page turning romance novels ranging from gothic romance, erotica to science fiction.

THE VIRGIN’S PACT Series

A collaboration by Bridgette Marie, Leonna, Lush Ericson and Luna King. The series is about four women—all virgins—desperately wanting to lose their virginity, and having embarrassing results. It would show how love could bloom despite superficiality, mistakes, and failures.  It would show how love could bloom from an epic fail.

TVP Book 1: Epic Desire (Maria Athena) by Bridgette Marie
TVP Book 2: Epic Satisfaction (Maria Ilumina) by Leonna
TVP Book 3: Epic Memories (Maria Jesusa) by Lush Ericson
TVP Book 4: Epic Cravings (Maria Carmina) by Luna King

WANDERLUST Series

Wanderlust is a series about four beautiful, sexy ladies who know what they want in life and how to fight for it. They met at Sagada Lemon Pie House one summer and had an instant connection with each other. They promised to meet again same time next year and see what life had brought to each one of them—whether it was love or heartbreak, a hope or the courage to move on…

Wanderlust Book 1: Touch by Dawn Igloria
Wanderlust Book 2: Kiss by Victoria Amor
Wanderlust Book 3: Tears by Belle Feliz
Wanderlust Book 4: Promise by Dream Grace

Hot Fangs Book 1: Dark Angel by Venus Franz

The gothic/paranormal romance series that also hints a bit humor—consists of nine stories—is all about the powerful and fanged creatures called Atereangelus {it-re-an-je-lus}, an ancient race of half-angel, half-vampire creatures that lived (discreetly and secretly) in modern day among ordinary people.

Ngunit dahil may dugong bampira, Atereangelus still live by blood. And they call their bloodmates Deiviram (dev-rom).

Brak, The Bastard of Agron by Rose Tan

This is a science fiction/love story/comedy. It has elements of alien romcoms, and Somewher In Time (the movie) where true love knows no time. The novel also tackles how it is to be HUMAN. As the heroine, a human, teaches the hero, an alien, how to be a human being. She is also discovering her own humanity, her weaknesses, her strength, her mistakes, her heart and soul. The alien on the other hand discovers human emotions that defy all explanations. The process is hilarious but at certain points, sad.
It is a journey… through self-discovery… through space and through time.

The Cursed Series Book 1: A Wolf’s Tale by Nikki Karenina

Beauty and The Beast/Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs inspired concept. The Project X – a Korean-Chinese boy band (na panay may lahing Pilipino) would be cursed into real wolves by midnight till dawn. Dahil naging mapanghusga raw silang lahat, masyadong mataas ang tingin sarili, mayabang, at kung ano-ano pa kaya dapat silang maturuan ng leksiyon. They will leave the industry, their lives as artists, and nobody would recognize them while they are cursed. Just like nobody had met them. Even their own families.

They would be sent to Sweetsville—an ice cream parlor. Pero hindi lang ito pangkaraniwang ice-cream parlor. Sweetville is the sanctuary of different creatures that mortals aren’t aware of (well, sort of) like fairies, witches, vampires, wolves. Etc.

with the special participation of her cousin, Manoy.

Loving Sunday by Belle Feliz

Let me, Mattie, tell how Sunday Blue and Jamie Alexander ended up together. It’s a wonderful tale of moving on and falling in love again. A wonderful journey of growing up… of learning more about life after death.

There are feelings that are not bound to last. There are relationships that won’t stay forever. And what is left for you to do is move on. But it isn’t that easy. Still you have to help yourself. Move on na, friend. Tama na ang emo.

DIARY NG MAGANDA by Victoria Amor
In love?

ABOUT PRECIOUS PAGES CORPORATION (PPC)

Precious Pages Corporation (PPC) began in 1992 when most businesses were closing down due to the crippling energy crisis. At that time, Tagalog romance pocketbooks were gaining popularity among Filipino romantics, especially the women. Segundo D. Matias Jr. and Richard Reynante, two creative think tanks from advertising, film and television, knew very well the Filipino taste in entertainment, so they decided to pool their resources and came up with the romance novel book imprint Precious Hearts Romances (PHR).

Starting with one book every month, PHR became an instant hit, and in such a short time the company came up with several other romance novel book imprints.

The company flourished. Within the next five years since its birth, the PPC was able to pool its own stable of romance novelists, acquire printing machines, employ a core staff of mostly production workers, and rent a venue for both its business offices and production requirements. Book releases reached a high of 25 titles per month, with its banner book imprint PHR becoming the bestselling Tagalog romance pocketbook in the country, and created household names of PPC romance writers Martha Cecilia, Rose Tan, Amanda, Maureen Apilado, Cora Clemente, among others.

In time, foreign distributors started seeking out the company for the distribution of its pocketbooks abroad, in particular Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, some parts of the US, the Middle East and Europe. Likewise, the company started its series of book launchings (Manila, Cebu, Davao, Hong Kong), began participating in book fairs and exhibits both on the local front and abroad, embarked on a program of promotional campaigns by way of giving away prizes and house-and-lot packages to lucky readers, and held its first annual PPC summer romance writing workshop.

As it grew bigger, the company diversified into the conceptualization and production of other products, particularly song/music-cum-chord books, romance magazine, cellphone text messaging-cum-ringing tones books, joke books—and children’s books, which saw the birth of PPC’s sister company, Lampara Publishing House, Inc.-Easy to Learn Books, with its foreign subsidiary ETL Sidney (See Lampara Publishing House, Inc.-Easy to Learn Books/ETL Sidney profile).

By the end of 2005, PPC had long established its name not only as the number one publisher of romance pocketbooks (with 50 titles under various book imprints and series novels released every month) but also as a publication firm to reckon with in the industry. More than 200 people from nine departments were already manning its administrative, editorial and production offices. It had given three house-and-lot packages as prizes to three lucky readers. Its annual romance writing workshops had produced a new breed of prolific romance writers that includes Vanessa, Dawn Igloria, Claudia Santiago, Sofia, Laurice del Rio, Sheena Rose and Sonia Francesca, to name a few. In the pipeline were blueprints of new products: a series of books about horror stories, fantasy-romance pocketbooks, illustrated animé books, cookbooks, and English and Tagalog chick lit.

PPC is an active member of the Book Development Association of the Phil., Inc., National Book Development Board, Book Exporter Association of the Philippines, Inc. The Manila International Book Fair.
