Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol welcomes Richard Gutierrez, Sarah Lahbati, and kids as brand ambassadors

Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol continues its campaign to be Filipino families’ ally in germ protection in the new normal as they welcome newlyweds, Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati, together with their adorable kids Zion and Kai, as their brand ambassadors.

Adjusting to the New Normal with Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol

Richard and Sarah, who got married in a solemn ceremony earlier this year, celebrated their new life together in quarantine. While being stuck at home was an opportunity for them to spend more time together as a family—planting, painting and playing all sorts of games, they also needed to go through a lot of adjustments as a family.

One adjustment that they had to do was to look for better ways to protect their family against germs, with the threat of the virus still continuing up until now. They found their newest ally in Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol, which promises a higher level of protection against germs and viruses.

“We believe in innovative products. Not only does Defensil come from a company we trust, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol is also recommended by experts,” said Sarah.

“And since we use alcohol more frequently to sanitize, I also like how it not only kills germs and bacteria, but also has moisturizer to not dry our skin,” she added.

One way to prevent the spread of germs is regular disinfection of hands and high touch surfaces using a rubbing alcohol. To provide a higher level of defense against germs in the new normal, the Philippine Society for Microbiology is recommending Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol.

Created by Beauty Elements Ventures Inc, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol kills 99.9% of germs to give Richard and Sarah’s family the peace of mind that they are well-defended. It starts to kill germs on contact and upon constant use, provides up to 12-hour protection.

New Normal Holidays

Celebrating the holidays is surely going to be different for the Gutierrez family this year. For Richard and Sarah, social distancing is something that they’re keeping in mind as they celebrate the holiday season, along with making sure that everyone sanitizes and disinfects using Defensil.

The family wishes to go on a local holiday trip with family bringing their new ally, Defensil. With this, Sarah shares three simple tips to fellow parents on how to keep their family safe from germs during the holiday season.

First, social distancing is a must. Second, always wear a mask. It is important for parents to teach their kids the importance of wearing masks, which help to prevent the transmission of the virus. And, lastly, always disinfect with an alcohol that makes sure you and the family are well-defended— like Defensil Isopropyl Alcohol.

To know more about Richard and Sarah’s newest ally, Defensil 70% Solution Isopropyl Alcohol, visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/defensil.philippines.

Ayala Foundation brings holiday cheer to typhoon-ravaged communities

In any barangay or town, a public school does not only serve as a hub for learning, it also serves as an important center in the life of a community. Often, community members gather on the grounds of the school for events and other activities.

Although all schools in the country have seen significantly educed activity in compliance with national guidelines on community quarantines and social distancing, public schools an important symbol of community life and solidarity.

This is one of the reasons why Ayala Foundation, together with the Ayala group of companies, included the provision of materials for the repair of Dugui 2 Elementary School in Virac, Catanduanes, which experienced devastation during the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly early in November.

Dugui 2 Elementary School is located near a river, near the outskirts of Virac. It is a 7-km drive on the mountain ridge of Catanduanes. It is a relatively small school with a student population of 252, and with a 12-person teaching staff. At the height of the onslaught of Typhoon Rolly, the single-story school experienced flooding that reached up to the ceiling of its 10 classrooms. The strong winds also led to the collapse of the school’s roof.

Neil Bañares, school principal, said the school lost virtually all its supplies and equipment. Teacher Jessel Magdaraog confirmed this, saying: “This area was super devastated by the typhoon. Lahat ng gamit namin nasira ng bagyo, kahit class records ng mga bata. Kaya mag-uumpisa kami sa umpisa.” (The typhoon destroyed all our materials, even our students’ records. We’ll have to start from scratch.)

Together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (particularly the Philippine Marines and the Philippine Army) and the Department of Education, Ayala Foundation visited Dugui 2 Elementary School on December 18, to provide construction materials, school supplies, and other in-kind donations.

A total of 102 galvanized iron sheets were delivered as a replacement for the school’s collapsed roof. Ayala Foundation and its donors also provided bond paper and printers, as well as other items such as clothes and essential goods. Among the donors that contributed to this effort are the Makati Development Corporation, Manila Water Foundation, Ayala Malls, Integrated Micro Electronics, AC Energy, and other private donors.

As part of the Ayala group’s Brigada ng Ayala program, Ayala Foundation is also distributing learning and hygiene kits for the students at Dugui 2 Elementary School. Brigada ng Ayala is the Ayala group’s unified, nationwide effort to support public education in the new normal, by providing hygiene and learning kits for students, access to online learning materials and solutions for both teachers and students, and WASH facilities in select locations.

Said Sir Neil: “We can use this for our classes, kahit modular na… We are really thankful to Ayala Foundation for the help na ipinadala sa amin.”

Added Teacher Jessel: “We are thankful to Ayala Foundation for the roofing, na alam kong makakatulong para ma-rebuild ulit ang aming classroom, at maka-start ulit ng aming journey sa pagututuro.” (I know that this donation will help us rebuild our classrooms and to restart our teaching journey.)

As part of the Ayala group’s continuing disaster relief initiatives, Ayala Foundation and Globe Telecom are providing “noche buena” packages for 12,000 households in Albay. This is the Ayala group’s way of bringing some Christmas cheer for as many as 60,000 individuals living in nine of the most severely devastated towns of Albay.

In the aftermath of the series of typhoons that hit the country in October and November, the Ayala group was among the first to provide relief to communities that experienced the typhoons’ devastation. Relief activities led by Ayala Foundation reached communities in Mimaropa, Calabarzon, the Bicol region, and Cagayan Valley.

Celebrities ask everyone to support World Vision’s Noche Buena initiative

World Vision continues its annual Christmas tradition with the Noche Buena campaign and as the child-focused organization moves forward, World Vision celebrity ambassadors and supporters help bring the Christmas spirit to Filipino children and families in need.

World Vision celebrity ambassadors Ogie Alcasid, Enzo Pineda, and Gelli Victor together with World Vision loyal sponsor Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo encourage more people to join the Noche Buena campaign and be part of the advocacy.

“I am so glad to be part of World Vision’s annual Noche Buena campaign even amid the pandemic. I hope people will continue supporting this initiative as not everyone can even afford a Noche Buena meal to celebrate Christmas,” says Mr. Ogie Alcasid

By giving a one-time donation of at least Php 1,000, sponsors and donors can help provide two (2) families with a Noche Buena gift that contains ingredients for Filipinos’ holiday favorites, spaghetti and fruit salad.

“This year is very hard for everyone, but we can still make this season like no other. With a small amount of donation to World Vision’s Noche Buena campaign, we can all help spread the spirit of Christmas to the Filipino children and their families who are in need, especially in this season of giving,” says Mr. Enzo Pineda

Meanwhile, Gelli Victor and her daughter Guiliana teamed up for “Cook for Good”, one of the initiatives under the Noche Buena campaign. The mother and daughter tandem created their very own version of Fruit Salad.

“World Vision’s Noche Buena campaign is one of my favorite initiatives of the organization because a simple Noche Buena pack means a lot for children as it symbolizes that they can have something special to look forward to every time it is Christmas,” says Ms. Gelli Victor.

Launched in 2005, the Noche Buena campaign has been one of the most awaited seasons of World Vision’s assisted children across the country, bringing joy to Filipino homes annually.

“The Year 2020 is a very different year for each one of us, but the spirit of Christmas never wanes. World Vision continues to bring joy, peace and hope to every Filipino especially in these trying times. We invite everyone to join our Noche Buena campaign and make this a Christmas like no other for Filipino children,” says Mr. Rommel Fuerte, World Vision National Director.

World Vision’s Noche Buena campaign will be accepting donations until January 8, 2021. To know more and donate to the Noche Buena campaign, please visit http://wvph.co/NB. You may also follow /worldvisionph on Facebook and @worldvisionphl on Instagram for updates.

Healing benefits of the yun-zhi mushroom for those with medical conditions

In 2018, lifestyle diseases or noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) remained as the top causes of mortality in Filipinos, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority, with Ischemic heart diseases, Neoplasms, Cerebrovascular diseases (including stroke and aneurysm), Pneumonia, and Diabetes Mellitus as the top 5 causes. These are diseases that are known to be correlated with one’s lifestyle and habits. The good news is that there are ways to boost one’s immune system that may be able to increase your protection from these diseases.

One way to give your immune system a boost, together with switching to a healthy diet and exercising, is through medicinal herbs and food supplements. One of the most sought-after herbal supplements in recent years are those made of the Yun-zhi mushroom or turkey tail mushroom, a legendary mushroom whose effects have been known for at least 2,000 years. Ancient medicinal records would describe its effects to bring invigorating vital energy and rejuvenation after prolonged consumption. Its benefits have attracted the attention of modern science and has sprouted extensive clinical trials to ascertain its effectivity and benefits, making it one of the most heavily researched mushrooms in the world.

In 2017, Dyna Drug Corporation launched NeuCell, a single plant extract formulation that is made with 250 mg of Yun-zhi Mushroom, which was also described by early Chinese texts as a “godly” medicine because of its remarkable health-promoting properties. Here are just some benefits of NeuCell, especially for those with preexisting medical conditions.

Boosts your immune system

In a random clinical trial, NeuCell was proven to stabilize white blood cell count in participants, making it a great supplement to boost the immune system, especially of those undergoing chemo- and radiotherapies. It also helps to reduce side effects of these treatments such as fatigue, poor appetite, pain, nausea, vomiting, and sweating.

Supports the respiratory system

The Yun-zhi mushroom is also known to improve the functions of the lungs. In traditional Chinese medicine, this highly researched and respected medicinal fungus has been used to treat lung diseases and to promote a healthy upper respiratory system.

Strengthens healthy liver function

The Yun-zhi mushroom was found to help detoxify the liver, helping promote overall liver health. It was also found to improve and strengthen the functions of the liver.

Promotes vitality

In a clinical study on the anti-fatigue properties of the Yun-zhi mushroom published on the International Journal of Medical Sciences, it was also seen that they can improve athletic performance by reducing fatigue. In the Compendium of Materia Medica published by Li Shizhen during the Ming dynasty, he described the effects of the Yun-zhi mushroom as “invigorating vital energy, and stimulating longevity and rejuvenation after prolonged consumption”. For people undergoing chemotherapy, NeuCell can help lessen fatigue as a symptom of the treatment.

NeuCell is highly recommended for people with existing medical conditions or undergoing chemotherapy in order to keep up their immune system. The results of a double-blind random clinical trial of NeuCell showed an effectivity rate between 83% and 86% for the participants. Still, anyone can take it as a food supplement to boost the immune system and to detoxify the body. For people undergoing chemotherapy, the recommended dosage is 4 to 5 capsules after meals, while those taking it as a food supplement are recommended to take 2 to 4 capsules daily.

NeuCell is FDA approved and is currently available at goodwill.market for only P720.00.

Embassy of Czech Republic, World Vision partner for “Bridge to Employment Project” in Baseco, Manila

Despite the difficulty of finding a stable job, Rodelyn Rabaya, who is unemployed, still hopes to earn a decent living. “I worked as an office encoder and as a warehouse assistant but since the contracts ended, I have been without work since then,” said the 23-year-old housewife from Baseco compound in Manila.

Especially now with a global health crisis, she thought opportunities were hard to come by for someone like her who did not earn a college diploma. Rabaya had to drop out from first year college to give way for her other siblings’ schooling.

Based on the report of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the unemployment rate increased to17.7% last April from the 5.3% unemployment rate last January 2020. PSA data also showed that though 13 million Filipinos continued to have jobs, they were unable to report for work due to the risks brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

These statistics reveal that wage-earners who are forced out of work due to the lockdown are in danger of a decreased or zero income. This affects their ability to provide essential needs of the family, including education for their children.

“I want to provide my child everything she needs but not to the point of spoiling her. I want her to finish her education,” shared Rabaya.

Building opportunities

World Vision is a non-profit organization whose vision is for every child to experience life in all its fullness by helping improve the welfare of children, their families and communities, in partnership with individuals and local and international institutions.

Together with the Embassy of Czech Republic in Manila, World Vision launched last October 2020 the “Bridge to Employment Project” in Barangay 649-Baseco.

This one-year project will support 50 students under the Alternative Learning System Program of the Department of Education, and 30 more who are enrolled in technical-vocational-livelihood programs of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.

Rabaya said she immediately signed up when their local government youth organization announced the project the through social media.

“They were looking for 18 to 24 year old people who wanted to continue studying though a scholarship, and whom the project will eventually help land a job,” said Rabaya, who immediately signed up for the contact center training among other available courses such as computer programming and events management.

She said she is eagerly waiting to start her 18-day online training.

“We at World Vision are excited for the students of the Bridge to Employment Project. This gives them a chance to continue reaching their dreams. We are thankful to the Embassy of Czech Republic in Manila for supporting our projects of looking after the welfare of families, especially the most vulnerable children,” said Rommel V. Fuerte, World Vision (Philippines) National Director.

The “Bridge to Employment Project” is one-year project aims to assist the education of 80 students so they can one day support their own families through livelihood and employment.

Eastern Communications supports rebuilding typhoon-hit communities

Holy Guardian Angels Parish in Tuao, Cagayan was among the first responders to provide relief efforts to affected residents due to flooding in the area

In support of rebuilding communities hit by Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses, Eastern Communications donated Php 400,000 worth of cash to the towns of Tuao and Solana in Cagayan, and non-profit organization Operations Blessing.

Eastern Communications, together with its employees, was able to raise funds to help affected families recover from the aftermath of said calamities.

The Holy Guardian Angels Parish in Tuao and Parish of Saint Vincent Ferrer in Solana, Cagayan headed respectively by Fr. Rino Guaring and Fr. Gary Agcaoili both received Php 100,000 each. This pledge will be part of both churches’ rehabilitation efforts, aiming to provide materials for some families to build new houses and assist them in their livelihood as many Cagayanos were relocated to a higher place.

Families who lost their homes and livelihood will be prioritized in the rehabilitation programs of the said organizations.

Operations Blessing, the humanitarian arm of Christian Broadcasting Network Asia, also received Php 221,400 pledges for similar projects in Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, and Metro Manila.

“We applaud the efforts of our beneficiaries in providing the basic needs of families affected by the typhoons, and we are one with them in helping families rebuild themselves after the storm. We’re hoping that this humble gesture will be able to reach Filipinos in need as they recover from the aftermaths,” said Eastern Communications Marketing Division Head Jedrek Estanislao.
