ComCo Southeast Asia kicks off 5th anniversary celebration with brand evolution, new metals and pitch wins

ComCo Southeast Asia is in “Blazing Sapphire” as it enters its 5th year with renewed energy through a brand refresh, awards from esteemed local and regional communications and marketing organizations, and major account wins.

Among the many milestones it is celebrating is a refreshed brand story chronicling the company’s journey from a kick-start-up to a premier multi-awarded regional boutique communications agency serving enterprises and organizations in the Philippines and across the Southeast Asian region, continued recognition for its communications and marketing campaigns, and new client partners.

Trailblazing. Transformative. Limitless.

United as a coalition of brand architects, inspired storytellers and communication trailblazers, ComCo SEA is kicking off its anniversary celebration with the Agency’s brand evolution - the transformation of its symbol and promise, and the retelling of its brand identity and story. ComCo Southeast Asia unveils its icon - a mothership housing the company’s great works and individuals with immense talent, meaning, passion and dreams, and taking off to conquer new horizons. The mothership is a vessel, a second home, a safe zone, a creativity playground, and a jumping board that empowers the ComCo Squadron to do more groundbreaking projects and make a difference along the way.

ComCo’s logo transforms from speech bubble into a digital screen, which beams the image of the mothership, and reflects the more modern, more complete and more integrated way of communicating in a world that has evolved. It shows the advancement, digital and multi-touchpoint integration, and completeness of the emerging global disciplines the Agency champions - New PR and Smart Social. It represents the company’s outlook of being a global independent communications agency working with a network of independents in Southeast Asia and across the regional centers of the world, in providing integrated communications solutions and services to brands, companies and organizations of all shapes and sizes.

Whether online or on-site, ComCo SEA is ready to soar higher with its unique brand of #MeaningfulStorytelling, which is also the Agency’s new mantra, to ignite brand love, social change, talent growth and regional alliance.

The company’s focus remains to Ignite Brand Love, Ignite Social Change, Ignite Talent and Ignite Regional Collaboration, while ComCo’s corporate culture is now reinforced through the four Camp ComCo mentorship houses lifted from the team’s spirit animals which are valuable but endangered species inhabiting Southeast Asia and the Pacific, showing the Agency’s love for the environment. ComCo Southeast Asia upholds Unity Drawn by Individual Stories and Team Journey as represented by Hawksbill, Rebellion Against the Status Quo and Monotony to Pursue Excellence as symbolized by Bearcat, Commitment to Advocacies that Matter and taken to Heart as signified by Flying Fox, and Equal Access and Opportunity for All as reflected by Whaleshark.

Wins in Awards and Accounts

In its 5 years, ComCo Southeast Asia has reaped over 76 awards and is celebrating more wins in 2021 from both local and international award-giving bodies such as IABC Quill Awards, MarCom Awards in USA, Mumbrella Awards, Marketing Event Awards in Singapore, Campaign Asia Pacific’s PR Awards Asia in Hong Kong, Spikes Asia, Anvil Awards, Asia Pacific Stevie Awards, Kidlat and ARAW Advertising Values Awards. The company recently received 13 metals from the prestigious IABC Quill Awards along with brand partners Eastern Communications, Jobstreet, World Vision and WWF-Philippines, including the recognition of Agency of the Year 2nd Runner-up. Recently, ComCo Southeast Asia also emerged as regional finalist in the Marketing PR Awards in Singapore for Best Use of Micro / Niche Influencers for its Write to Ignite Blogging Project.

More than the awards, ComCo SEA also continued to strengthen its client portfolio, winning major accounts in recent agency pitches such as Xiaomi, Unilab Foundation, Defensil isopropyl alcohol, Sunlife ASC, and Lamoiyan Corporation’s Gumtect toothpaste.

Blazing Sapphire 5-Part Celebration

To mark its 5th year in the business, ComCo SEA is inviting its friends and stakeholders to join its year-long 5-part celebration dubbed as “Blazing Sapphire”. First in the 5-part series is the kick-off which included the virtual townhall and digital unveiling of ComCo SEA’s brand evolution, while the summer would mark the inauguration of the Camp ComCo Alumni Society “Unity Games”, where the graduates of the company’s mentorship program from House Bearcat, Flying Fox, Hawksbill and Whaleshark will get reunited, which also serves as the celebration of the company’s strong alumni culture. Meanwhile, bloggers, micro-influencers and content creators can sharpen their storytelling skills anew as ComCo SEA opens season 2 of the award-winning and much talked about “Write to Ignite Blogging Project”.

In “5 Gifts to the Community” of Citizen ComCo, the Agency’s advocacy program, ComCo SEA aims to give back and pay forward to different sectors - children, youth and education; heritage, culture and tourism; wildlife, biodiversity and environmental conservation; micro, small and social enterprises; and Southeast Asian integration. Afterwards, stakeholders and partners can look forward to the culmination of the celebration through the “Blazing Sapphire” anniversary main event.

ComCo Southeast Asia’s Regional Integration and Chief Executive Director and Co-Founder Ferdinand Bondoy shared, “We did not expect to grow this fast as we are just enjoying the journey of working together again (founders are former teammates who did landmark projects together) and growing the team with a unique, non-conformist and progressive agency culture that we’ve always dreamed of.

Then we just realized that there are so many milestones to celebrate and to be thankful for already. In 5 years, we’ve already taken care of 61 brands or accounts; 76 local, regional and international awards from real, authentic and impactful campaigns in collaboration with existing and actual clients; mentored 65 apprentices from 14 cycles of the Camp ComCo Mentorship Program; and established a network of independents in Southeast Asia primarily in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.”

Mr. Bondoy added, “While the team, or ComCo Squadron as we fondly call it, has accomplished many things in a short period of time, we believe that there is a lot more to do. And as we kick-start our 5-part 5th anniversary celebration, we are also jumpstarting our 10-year masterplan which is set to even revolutionize the game and do more for our society, as we work on projects and initiatives with people, brands and organizations that share the same vision.”

Mommy Gamer : Level up!

Tired Mommy Hands taking a break for online gaming. Isn't it a level up stage?

I remember my addiction in Farmville, I think back in 2009. Enjoying planting, harvesting crops, livestock and planting again. Just a repeat cycle. During those days, I can't go a day without visiting my virtual farm to see my growing plants, fruits and vegetables good for harvest time. But for some reason, I stopped, partly due to my workload as a working mom with a toddler.

And from last year's covid-19 pandemic, the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) made me reconcile with some of my old habits. Planting, for example, I was able to plant again and focus on my urban gardening since we can't go out that much. Plus mobile phone gaming during free time.

Recently, I discovered a website with free online games where I saw some online games similar to my old favorite games when I was younger. Believe me, it was awesome finding it, actually addicting. My husband even caught me playing and started calling me a "gamer" and even teasing our daughter not to disturb me or I might lose the game.

I'm still a responsible mom though. I only play after dinner and just for a short time as I have tones of never-ending chores at home plus my side jobs. I'll just share with you my top 3 favorite games. You may check them out, I found my games not that stressing unlike other games that can ruin your day and your mood.

1st Favorite

Call me old school, I still love TETRIS! My last memory of this game was with my simple Nokia cellphone. And that's quite a long time. Now with my android cellphone, it's easier to play it this with blue light. Honestly, my moves was kind of rusty already. Just need some time to play again and again.

2nd Favorite

If you can remember Saga or Galaxy attack, it look the same, though this is now the modern look or version. NEON Invaders. It feels good shooting the flying or moving objects above you. I don't know, I enjoy every shooting.

3rd Favorite

BRICK OUT may look familiar, but I could say that this is the most challenging yet my most favorite game so far. Something new but I really enjoy the thrill of catching the ball and not allowing it to fall by the use of the paddle. The sound of the game makes it more exciting to continue and continue breaking the bricks.

I found my occasional gaming a way of relaxation. At least I don't have to spend much in my gaming time, except for the battery of my cellphone. Good thing with this free online games from https://plays.org/games/ there's no need to download to eat up my memory space. That's a good news!

Warning: Gaming is addicting, better set a specific time or schedule to enjoy your online/virtual gaming without feeling guilty, especially for moms like me. Of course, kids and family first.

Jobseekers from Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao can now browse thousands of jobs available in their locality through the respective microsites. Candidates can also learn from work-life guides and advice from JobStreet’s career hub which will be written in their local dialect.

“Many Filipinos recently returned to their provinces because of layoffs or the new work from home arrangements and this caused a shift in the labor market. We’ve also observed that candidates from major provinces have increased their activities in terms of platform website visits, which is why we really targeted to promote local employment and provide them valuable support in their career through their own dialect,” said JobStreet Philippines Country Manager Philip Gioca.

Hyperlocal microsites

The microsite for Cebu offers opportunities from the top industries namely Call Center/IT-Enabled Services/BPO (12.5%), Manufacturing/Production (7.6%), Healthcare/ Medical (6.5%), Education (5.5%), and Construction/Building/Engineering (5.2%). The average salary reported in Cebu is Php 31,487.

Meanwhile, thousands of jobs are also found in Iloilo microsite with an average salary of Php 27,370. Top industries include Healthcare/Medical (13.6%), Call Center/IT-Enabled Services/BPO (9.2%), Education (8.3%), Construction/Building/Engineering (5.6%), and Food & Beverage/Catering/Restaurant (5.3%).

As of 2021, JobStreet earned a 13% growth in average platform visits from Cebu, 56% from Davao, and 44% in Iloilo. Moreover, hirers from the said provinces are gradually picking up. Based on JobStreet Database as of March 2021, job offerings based in Central Visayas grew by 9% from a sharp decline in 2020. Western Visayas recently jumped to 44% increase in job openings, while Davao Region is also recovering with 26% job postings this year.

Ensuring that the initiative will be advantageous for both local hirers and candidates, JobStreet is also establishing a local team in each province to accommodate queries.

Labor Day Virtual Career Fair

JobStreet continues to support the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in providing livelihood among Filipinos during this period. Following the success of the recent Virtual Career Fair, JobStreet partners with selected DOLE regions to launch another Virtual Career Fair on May 1 to 3.

Over 100 companies from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have participated in the upcoming Virtual Career Fair, offering thousands of jobs nationwide. Candidates from different regions will also have a chance to experience engaging features such as live chats, on-the-spot interviews with HR representatives, and companies’ virtual booths. In addition, DOLE Regional Offices will accommodate concerns and questions from candidates via chat in the platform.

Jobseekers can join the online raffle as JobStreet goes live on its official Facebook Page on the first day of the Virtual Career Fair on May 1 at 5:00PM.

“We appreciate DOLE and the participating regions for trusting to partner with JobStreet in this initiative. We’re hoping that the Virtual Career Fair would be able to reach out to more jobseekers across the country who are looking for opportunities at this time,” shared Gioca.

The Virtual Career Fair is now open for pre-registration through http://bit.ly/JobStreetDOLEVCF.

Provincial microsites are also accessible via http://bit.ly/JobStreetIloilo, http://bit.ly/JobStreetCebu, and http://bit.ly/JobStreetDavao.

Is Queen Hadassah Pregnant?

Hadassah is our very first legit pet. Why? Because the first time we tried having one, I think a couple of years ago, only lasted for 4 days and we gave it back to our friend owner.  It was a decision made by me and my daughter. During that time, we did not see that much support from my hubby. That made it easier for us to let go of Oppah (AsPin).

While Hadassah, an American Bully, technically was acquired my hubby, he's the one who got Hada.  At first me and daughter was so hesitant to take care of her because she's bigger that Oppah. She somehow looked scary.  But, as time goes by, we got to appreciate and love her every day.

Why American Bully?

We never knew anything about American Bully. We were just one day got surprised that a puppy was delivered to our doorstep. Shocked and somehow felt excited the first time we saw her. We discovered that ambulls are not how they are named they are. To my amazement, they are not bullies, they're truly sweet loving dogs.  They may look unpleasant at times, as how others see them, but they are naturally beautiful.

What is the meaning of "Hadassah"?

We wanted a name from the Bible, we thought of  Queen Esther.  But sounds so familiar already. So we googled the Hebrew name for Esther, it gave us Hadassah. There's something with the name that's why we decided to name our AmBull, Queen Hadassah. We love the character of Queen Esther that made us use her Hebrew name.

Today, Hadassah's big tummy turned 55 days. So early this morning she had her x-ray. Thought we're already going to have babies.  Unfortunately, the doctor showed us the result and found no babies inside her tummy. It was explained that it is possible to have an abortion on the 20ish days of her pregnancy. The baby capsule might have died and was absorbed by the mother dog's body. That made her body felt that she was still pregnant. How sad.  We were so careful and did not allow her to run around for almost 2 months hoping that she was already pregnant then.

We must patiently wait for the right time. The good thing now, we can bring her up the rooftop to enjoy her company again. Because the false alarm pregnancy made us so anxious to let her make big moves. We only placed her in her cage and did not allow her to make crazy moves, that's for 2 months!

This afternoon, Hadassah got to enjoy again going up the stairs to the rooftop. With all the excitement to run freely again out from her cage. It's such a joy seeing her run and walk around the place. Hadassah is back to make us chase her every time she shows her poop signal. A simple joy not everyone can understand.

Mommy & Hadassah

I never thought that I could learn to take care and love a dog. Because I was never a dog or pet person.  Maybe because it was not time yet. Now, I can say that I'm a dog lover.

I read somewhere " The more I meet people, the more I love my DOG"...

Leaders in the Workplace and in the Home: Teleperformance Philippines shares tips for women leaders in International Women’s Day event

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Teleperformance hosted a virtual event that highlighted the struggles and triumphs that women leaders face given their unique roles of being both leaders at home and at work.

Shared in a livestream on the Teleperformance Philippines Facebook page, the event aimed to engage participants in a discourse on problems and possible solutions to the glass walls women face in their careers on a daily basis, along with how to juggle their dual leadership roles. Organized by TP Women, topics such as work-life balance, the importance of having men as allies and creating a gender inclusive corporate culture were discussed through panel discussions and a pledge for gender equality.

Leadership in two arenas

Women continue to face many cultural and social barriers that can prevent them from pursuing leadership roles. According to a report by LinkedIn Opportunity Index 2021, almost half of Filipino women (46%) working from home have struggled to juggle work and family life during the pandemic, especially working mothers. Similarly, 42% said their duties at home are a barrier to their career development.

Meanwhile, a 2020 study conducted by ILO with Philippine companies on human resource challenges on attracting and retaining high performing talents, work and family flexibility is important to a Filipino career woman, more so, a determining factor if she will accept or be prompted to leave a job.

To help women be more effective leaders both in the home and workplace, representatives of TP Women offered these five tips:

Equip yourself with the right tools & ask questions

To encourage other women to be their authentic selves, leaders themselves need to be equipped. “Try and study what you don’t know,” advised Michelle Carbonel, Senior Director of Recruitment Sourcing Department. “Self-knowledge is very important. Don’t be afraid to ask your team questions on how you can help them and what goals they would like to achieve to create that safe space for them.”

Never be afraid to acknowledge your accomplishments

“As women, sometimes, we could be a bit meek, and we want to be a 150% confident before we step it up or before we lay down our cards in any setting. So I dare everyone to really think about their accomplishments and don’t be afraid to let the world know about it,” said Ellora Du, Contract Center Manager. “No one else can celebrate your success except you, so grab every opportunity that presents itself. Boost your confidence and make known to the world what women are capable of.”

Know your Strength

“Always remember you have a voice,” said May Cordeta, Director of Training. She reminded women not to be shy to bring their ideas to the table and to create that conversation with themselves that they are good enough. “Nothing is too big or too small and the only one limiting you is yourself. Make sure you are heard and empower yourself to make your presence known,” shared Cordeta.

Create clear boundaries

When it comes to work-life balance, Tanya Famador-Japitana, Executive Vice President of Client Operations believes there should still be a certain time spent for work, for family, and for oneself. “Set clear boundaries and be intentional with your time – this would help improve your mood when you are with your family, leading to a better you at work as well.”

Decide what you want to do for yourself and know that it’s okay

Above all, TP Women leaders agreed that women empowerment is all about being able to choose. Affirm yourself that whatever or whoever you want to be, whether that is being a housewife or an astronaut or both, that it’s okay. “Women have the ability to decide what to do for themselves—deafen your ears on how society continues to dictate how women should act and what women should be,” Famador-Japitana said.

Also present at the event was Teleperformance Philippines’ Senior Vice President for Human Capital Resource Management Jeffrey Johnson, who shared how his mother and grandmother, who were both strong women, showed him how capable women could be.

Launched in 2019, TP Women is an initiative that is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of women in Teleperformance, while also serving as a community and support system for women within the organization.

Spearheaded by Tanya Famador-Japitana, TP Women seeks to address women’s issues in the workplace and help drive positive change, standing behind diversity, inclusion, and gender balance and supporting equal opportunity and participation at all levels and in all aspects. TP Women is part of the company’s Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) program, which highlights its commitment to its people, supporting initiatives that promote women empowerment, inclusion of professionals with disabilities, and supporting LGBTQIA+ communities.

“TP Women isn’t just about women in leadership. It’s about women supporting each other and equally, about men in our organization doing their part to support individuals to maximize their potential. That’s why at TP, I’m committed to supporting all of the women in the organization and being a reliable ally to ensure that we provide equal opportunities in work, in leadership and across the organization,” said Mike Lytle, Chief Executive Officer of Teleperformance US, Canada and Philippines.

Teleperformance Philippines is the first company in the country to receive three consecutive certifications from the Great Place to Work® Institute through a comprehensive evaluation process that involved an anonymous survey of over 34,000 of their employees.

Those who want to get more insights on women as leaders can check out this link of the event at: https://www.facebook.com/teleperformance.philippines/videos/150680063573686/
