Nothing is too late as long as you still have the time and willingness to try. I believe that there's no age limit in learning new things. So, get your swim suit and hit the water with the friendly Lozada Team!

Giving them worthwhile activities and using their idle time is one way to develop these youths to become productive citizens. Bert Lozada Swim School helps in teaching indigent children the necessary swimming skills that will help them improve their lives… for free. They are taught life-saving skills in the event of a flood, as well as allow them to get into the swim program in order to have a chance at a college scholarship.

Meet the Personalities behind BLSS

ANGELO LOZADA
COO of Bert Lozada Swim School

Angelo is Certified and educated at the World Swimming Coaches, United States Swim School Association, Australian Council for the Teaching Of Swimming and Water Safety and the Philippine Swimming Inc,

Coach Angelo makes sure that his students learn properly while enjoying and having fun in the water to draw out the best in them. Bert Lozada Swim School started in 1965 through the initiative of its founder and Coach Angelo’s father Bert Lozada.

ANTHONY JOSEPH LOZADA
CEO of the Bert Lozada Swim School

Anthony was already teaching and coaching swimming when his father Bert formally organized the Bert Lozada Swim School(BLSS) in 1986. Back then it was known as the Lozada Swimming Specialists and Aquatic Services inc. (LSSAS).

Anthony starting coaching in 1987 but his formal introduction to coaching members of the national team happened when he assisted his father during the 1991 Southeast Asian Games where the Philippines won 2nd Place.

German national coach Lothar Matthes, who was the country’s foreign coaching consultant at that time, saw great potential in Anthony that he recommended him to the German Embassy and the Philippine Sports Commission for a scholarship grant and pursue a Diploma course in swim coaching at the prestigious Leipzig Sports University where legendary sports champions of the former East Germany was produced. Anthony was only the 2nd Filipino to have acquired coaching expertise from Leipzig.

In 1992, Anthony was again a recipient of a coaching course at the Crystal Palace National Sports Center conducted by British Swimming. Anthony developed national swimmers who represented the country at high-level international competitions among them the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympic Games.

Anthony and his wife Eloisa attended swim teacher’s certification courses (infants & toddlers) in Australia in 2008 under the AUSTSWIM, Australia’s national organization for the teaching of swimming and water safety.

It was in 2011 when Anthony started coaching triathletes improve their swim.  He then pursued coaching education in Triathlon courtesy of the Triathlon Association of the Philippines(TRAP) and is now a Certified Level-2 Triathlon Coach by the , International Triathlon Union(ITU), Lausanne Switzerland. In 2013

His passion in developing triathlon coaches made him one of only 2 Asians to be given the opportunity of facilitating coaching certification courses as a Certified Coaches Education Facilitator by the International Triathlon Union(ITU). He conducted certification courses in China and Iran. He also attended and assisted at international triathlon training camps in China, Korea, Thailand, Iran and Portugal under the guidance of top coaches in the sport of triathlon. In 2015, Anthony was named as one of the triathlon coaches of Team Asia. Here, Anthony received a coaching mentorship program from the Asian Triathlon Confederation(ASTC) where Canadian ITU Coach Luc Morin was his  mentor.

2014 was a banner year for Anthony and his triathlon coaching because it was here when his triathlete (Victorija Deldio)  became the country’s 1st triathlete to qualify and race in an Olympic Triathlon event which was at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China. It was back to the Olympics for Anthony. . It was also this year when Anthony’s visually impaired athletes, 15 year old  Jerome and Joshua Nelmida who also happens to be identical twins barged into the Triathlon community as the country’s 1st visually impaired traithletes to race as guest participants in the PT-5 category of the 2015 Asian Paratriathlon Championships which was held in Subic Olongapo City.

In 2015, Anthony was able to coach the country’s top junior triathlete(Edward Jared Macalalad) at prestigious World Triathlon Grand Finals in Chicago. This was the culmination of his 2015 season. Anthony and His Athlete Jared was sent by the  Asian Triathlon Confederation(ASTC) to training camps in Thailand supervised by top ITU coaches Luc Morin and coach Peter Clifford of High Performance Tri Australia in preparation for this race.

Anthony has always wanted to pursue his father’s drive towards bringing swimming to as many individuals as possible regardless of Age, Ability or status in life. In 2012, he attended a course in San Diego USA in teaching swimming to kids with Autism.

Anthony’s passion in the sport fuelled his energy into adding this to the courses that blss would offer that year. He took in a few students under his direct supervision but he would also transfer this knowledge along with sending his senior teacher to attend courses in the USA  so that they could also experience the joy of teaching seeing kids with special needs learn how to swim.

For Anthony, Coaching is Teaching. Athletes need to be taught and develop fundamental skills so that they are able to reach their full potential and maximize their God given talent. Anthony strives for Excellence in each student that he teaches and each athlete that he coaches. Coaches and teachers also need to practice professionalism regardless of the level.

Anthony doesn’t and will not stop learning how to teach/coach so that he gives his best at all times. For Anthony, the best coach/teacher must have the knowledge in order for a coach to be effective and efficient in developing his students/athletes regardless of their limitations in life.

Anthony believes that the best teacher/coach is not always the person who has the most knowledge or diplomas but the one who has the patience and uses his knowledge to find different ways to develop the skills of his students/athletes.

Anthony will always tell you..”I am a Teacher and a Coach because I love my sport and what I do. My passion is to create an environment where my students and athletes will be able to learn and develop their God given talent in pursuit of their dreams and goals.”

Anthony took up his Elementary, Secondary and College at the De La Salle University. He took up Bachelor of Science in Commerce, majoring in Business Management. He is married to Ma. Eloisa V. Lozada who works as a flight purser for Philippine Airlines and a professional photographer. They have a daughter who is a swimmer and triathlete Keona Marie V. Lozada.

Pepper Angeles-Lozada
BLSS Infant Aquatics Program Manager

Pepper Angeles-Lozada is married to Coach Angelo Lozada, mother to 3 energetic boys, a homeschool mom and a licensed Zumba fitness instructor.
She has always been fond of swimming since she was 2 years old. In college, she joined the St. Scholastica’s swimming team and eventually became the Team Captain. While in college, she found herself drawn to another water sport, Springboard & Platform diving during the 1991 South East Asian Games. Initially, it was just a hobby sport until the National coach encouraged her to try out for the national team…and landed a spot in the team. However, it was a short-lived sports career.
Not long after that, she found herself working for Ayala Corporation in 1996 under the Corporate Affairs Department. On the side, she worked as party host for children’s party. After 6 years, she decided to take on the job offered by Coach Angelo to teach infant & toddler swimming.
Teaching infant & toddler swimming was like second nature to Pepper, backed up with hands-on trainings under The Aquatic Achievers Swim School and certification from AUSTSwim she had in Queensland, Australia. She aimed to be good at what she does by always keeping herself up to date with the latest techniques on teaching infant & toddler swimming by attending conferences hosted by the U.S. Swim School Association.
In Bert Lozada Swim School, she holds a significant role by improving the school’s infant & toddler swim program, My Baby & Me. She also handles the training of teachers for the said program.

The Sour-Savory Goodness of the new AJI-SINIGANG® Cube

I love to cook! It's actually my everyday life. As a mother, seeing my daughter enjoy her home-cooked meal by yours truly makes my heart smile. Pork Sinigang with plenty of onion, okra and tomato is her all-time favorite viand since she was a toddler. I'm happy that with this recipe my family can have different kinds of vegetables in one soup.

Sinigang Soup is a ‘must’ in most Pinoy households’ weekly menu. The whole family enjoys a bowl of warm and refreshing Sinigang dish in hot or cold weather conditions. It has been observed though that most people using sinigang mixes available in the market would need to add other savory and meaty seasonings i.e. pork cube and all-in-one seasonings to achieve the ideal sinigang taste, which is not just about sourness but savory taste as well.

The new Ajinomoto® Sinigang Cube is all that you will ever need to cook Sinigang with the preferred blend of sour-savory (asim-linamnam) taste. It is perfect in providing the balanced rich, savory deliciousness and appetizing sourness to any sinigang dish. Each cube is “ZoopSiksik™” because it is packed with the right level of tamarind sourness and savory taste from meaty extracts.

AJI-SINIGANG® Cube is available in single 13g pillow pack cube for P5.00 and 8 pieces of 13g packed in re-sealable stand-up pouch for P38.00.
