Preparing healthy, nutritious meals is easy with an induction cooktop. Induction technology directs heat at the bottom surface of the pan, so it can heat food faster. This is also why induction cooktops are energy efficient; no heat is wasted because it is focused on the cookware itself and not its surroundings. Another great benefit of an induction cooktop is safety. The heat is limited to the spot where your pot is placed leaving the rest of the cooktop safe to touch. You don’t have worry about burning yourself and it’s even safe for kids to give you a hand in cooking.

Optimize your cooking experience by pairing your cooking range with a good range hood. Installing one is a must as range hoods filters smoke and hazardous air during cooking; it also lessens the heat in the kitchen, providing you with a healthier and more comfortable cooking environment.

The Electrolux Induction Cooking Range offers great versatility when it comes to cooking as it comes with an induction cooker with four induction cooking zones and an oven with 8 cooking functions. It’s is best paired with the Electrolux 60 cm. Slim Line Hood which comes with grease and carbon filters to remove cooking smoke and odour to give you a fresh kitchen.

Meanwhile, get up to 50% off on Electrolux range hoods when bundled with select Electrolux Cooking Ranges.

LT Group Holds Two-Day Relief Operations in Batangas

Absolut Distillers chief operating officer and over-all general manager for distillery operation of the LT Group Mr. Gerry Tee (middle) led the two-day relief operation for the evacuees of the Taal volcano eruption, who are now in Lian, Batangas. Mr. Tee is joined by Philippine Airlines corporate affairs manager Ms. Pinky Mag-iba. Balagtas (left).

The Lucio Tan Group of Companies, whose Absolut Distillers Inc. (ADI) facility is situated in Lian, Batangas, started its relief operations for the families affected by the eruption of Taal volcano.

We are here to help the barangays and communities whose people we consider as family. The LT Group has come together to provide for their basic necessities during this challenging time,” said ADI COO Gerry Tee, who spearheaded the distribution of relief items to the families who fled their homes in nearby towns of Lemery and Taal, Batangas.

ADI and Tanduay, along with Philippine Airlines (PAL) and the Tan Yan Kee Foundation, held relief operations in Bagong Pook Lian in Batangas; Barangays Pook Lian and Malaruhatan in Lian; and Barangay Banilad in Nasugbu for two days.

This is just the start. We will be working closely with the barangay officials in our relief efforts in the coming days. Aside from bringing them temporary relief from this situation, we are also willing to extend our help to the community and the government to provide long-term solutions so our kababayang Batanguenos will be able to rebuild their lives again,” Tee said.

The provincial government in Nasugbu has commended and thanked the efforts of the LT Group, which was among the first companies to respond and provide the much-needed help to almost 700 evacuees.

As of January 20, 2020, the number of people staying at evacuation centers have reached 104,377, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

How Filipinos Can Remain Healthy in the Age of Social Media

Staying online for more than 10 hours, the average time that most Filipinos are connected to the internet, may lead to a number of health risks. This is according to leading sports nutritionist Dr. Dana Ryan, the director for Sports Performance and Education of Herbalife Nutrition.

“Unless you’re doing a physical activity while you’re online, it’s not healthy to stay inactive for long periods of time. In fact, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), insufficient physical activity is one of the leading risk factors for death worldwide. It increases the chances of serious diseases, such as cancer and diabetes,” Dr. Ryan said.

According to the WHO, more than 80% of the world’s adolescent population is “insufficiently physically active” with 1 in 4 adults “not active enough.”

“Not all of us may afford a gym membership, but that doesn’t excuse us from not being physically active on our own,” noted Dr. Ryan. “Take up some   physical activity that you love. That way, you won’t see it as a chore, so can do it regularly.”

She added that having a workout buddy would also be helpful as you’ll get to motivate each other. “Find a class or program that you can attend together. It also helps to set a goal for yourself. This way, you’ll stay motivated,” she suggested.

Walking to work, setting reminders to stand up every 30 minutes, standing during breaks, getting up during TV commercials, and using the stairs instead of taking the elevator are also some of the ways one can have a physical activity in a day.

A member of the Herbalife Nutrition Scientific Leadership, which is comprised of leading experts from around the world in nutrition, science, and health, Dr. Ryan likewise advised against cutting certain macronutrients from one’s diet.

“For example, some people believe that they only need protein and cut out carbs from their diet. This is not true. When it comes to keeping healthy, just always remember balance, as the body needs a complex blend of nutrients to remain healthy,” she said. “Indeed, Herbalife Nutrition Philosophy recommends that you get about 40% of your calories in the form of beneficial carbohydrates – whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruits; along with 30% from proteins, and no more than 30% from fats."

At the same time, Dr. Ryan pointed out the importance of balancing what you eat and what you burn.

“Balance the calories that you take in and what you burn, and your weight would remain stable,” she said.

Dr. Ryan added that staying online is not bad in itself; it’s just that people should remember to be active at times, rather than becoming too absorbed in the online world that they don't move for hours.

“Also, try to look up helpful tips on how to remain fit from reliable organizations. Look at the celebrity or influencer you admire as an inspiration, but don’t stress yourself into achieving what he or she has. The important thing is to remain active and healthy,” Dr. Ryan concluded.

Captured by Mark Balmores

Legánde, Inc marked another milestone in their history by unveiling a brand new logo and tagline “Where infinite possibilities live” to usher a new year and decade with new products, compensation plan, and management team. Legánde, Inc is a fusion of two companies, Multipure Philippines and Pillars 5. Multipure Philippines is the authorized distributor of Multipure water systems of the United States of America while Pillars 5 is an all natural nutrition and wellness company.

The event was held at Luxent Hotel and it was graced by family, friends, brand partners, entrepreneurs, media, and supporters of Legánde, Inc. The ballroom was filled to the brim, with everyone hanging off the edge of their seats, excited to witness and have first hand dibs on the newest products and income opportunity that Legánde, Inc. has to offer.

Legánde, Inc. launched three new products that cater to health and wellness. They have the home essentials, health essentials, and beauty essentials. The home essentials include the Multipure Water Filtration Systems, the AquaDOME, AquaVERSA, and AquaMINI, that is backed by three certifications (ANSI 42 - Aesthetic effects; ANSI 53 - Health effects, and ANSI 401 - emerging compounds and incidental contaminants) from the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) which users can upgrade with a Legánde Pre-filter. Under the same category is the Multipure Aqua Shower that is marked by a Water Quality Seal. The health essentials include 100% pure essential oils, gourmet teas, and life enzyme. The beauty essentials consists of argan oil for the face, hair, and body.

Multipure is the premier manufacturer of high-quality drinking water systems in the United States of America and have been in business for 50 years. They are all about improving the quality of life. Multipure is the original developer of solid carbon block technology.

The gourmet teas being offered by Legánde is not just any tea. These teas are what purists call as the real thing. Legánde Inc. offers green tea, black tea, white tea, oolong tea, and a fusion of green tea and jasmine flowers tea. These are derived from the Camellia sinensis plant which is a shrub native to China and India. This contains unique antioxidants called polyphenols.

Essential oils are another addition to Legánde’s growing roster of products. This is an absolutely perfect addition because Legánde wants to provide its customers with a more positive lifestyle. Legánde’s essential oils come in three types: Mood Lifter, Stress and Pain Buster, and last but not least the Energy Booster.

The Argan Oil is one of its most coveted beauty products so it makes sense that Legánde is offering this in 3 forms: Hair, Body, and Face. With it’s high Vitamin E and fatty acid content, argan oil is the ideal product to give skin a natural boost. It is easily absorbed because it is non-greasy and non-irritating, making it a natural moisturizer.

Lastly, they are also offering Life Enzyme which works better than most vitamins, herbal remedies, and supplements. Enzymes speed up blood circulation, digestion, detoxification, and healing which are all necessary for the body. Legánde’s Life Enzyme contains 150 all natural whole fruits and vegetables as well as medicinal fungi and ancient Chinese herbs which underwent 1 year fermentation process. This slows down ageing and aids in the relief of digestive disorders and boosts energy.

Ramon Garcia Sr. ended the night with this quote: “ We grow because we invest. We invest in our members and staff development. We invest in new technology. We invest in new products.
We invest in infrastructure to better our service. Now the result of caring, sharing, and investing
is that we grow, we grow together, we grow our business together, and we grow together to realize our members’ dream at a sustainable level.”

World Vision calls for donation in ongoing relief efforts for communities affected by Taal Volcano eruption

Child-focused organization World Vision is calling for donations and volunteers to support their ongoing relief efforts for the immediate needs of the people affected by Taal Volcano’s unrest.

Aside from monetary donations to support the operations in progress, World Vision is also accepting emergency essentials such as dust masks that will be distributed in evacuation centers in Batangas.

“World Vision is committed to support the families, especially the children, who are in difficult situation because of the eruption. Our response team is already on the ground and will also be distributing hygiene kits, plastic mats, blankets, drinking water and other emergency essentials in the coming days,” said World Vision’s National Director Rommel Fuerte.

Alert level 4 remains hoisted over Taal Volcano which means that hazardous explosive eruption is imminent within hours or days. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PhiVolcs) has already reported at least 280 volcanic eruptions and lava fountains generating 800-meter tall dark gray steam-laden plumes. The volcanic activities also prompted the education department to cancel the classes of more than five million students across four regions.

Mandatory evacuations have been enforced in communities living within the 14-kilometre radius of Taal Volcano’s crater. According to United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), there are at least 450,000 people within the danger zone who are the most vulnerable to “possible hazards of pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.”

11-year old Princess from Laurel, Batangas shared, "I pray that this will be over so we can go home soon." Her family is taking refuge in a school turned evacuation center, sharing a classroom with seven other families. Princess says it's cold in the evening, she could barely sleep.  She also gets terrified with the constant jolts caused by the restless Taal.

World Vision aims to initially support the immediate needs of 2,000 families or 10,000 individuals with provision of hygiene kits (bath and laundry soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes, sanitary packs, nail cutter, undergarments and malong or tube skirt), non-food items (mosquito net, mats and blanket), dust mask and drinking water. Child-friendly spaces will also be set up to help children cope from the distress caused by the disaster while cash-for-work focusing on community clean-up will be implemented towards the early recovery phase of the response.

“With the continuous volcanic activities, we do not know when the affected children and their families will be able to go back to their homes. I appeal to our donors and partners to help us respond to their needs,” said Fuerte.
To support the affected children and their families, click this link to go to World Vision’s donation page: https://wvph.co/DonateForTaal. You may also call World Vision at (02) 8372-7777 or (0917) 866-4824.
