5 Champion Facts You Might Not Know About James Reid

MANILA, Philippines, 24 February 2017 -The new MILO Champ Moves continues to make waves on social media, with millions of netizens having watched the viral, upbeat music video, even creating their own versions through parody clips, memes and cool remixes. At the center of the dance exercise is one of the country’s most influential young celebrities—actor, singer, dancer, and MILO ambassador James Reid. But did you know that there’s more to James than his roles in movies and TV shows?

Here are five Champion Facts you probably didn’t know about the talented James Reid and why he wants to help kids #BeatEnergyGap:

1.     He was an athlete at an early age and competed in school competitions.

James is not only agile on the dance floor but also in sports, having participated in gymnastics, Australian football, swimming, golf, and cricket.

“I was very athletic as a kid, and I’m very proud of that. When I was in primary school until high school, I would try everything,” shared James during the Champ Moves video shoot. “I love swimming and I’ve been doing it as long as I can remember. I also played Australian football, golf, gymnastics, and even went as far as high-diving.”

Showing off his champ-like enthusiasm and winning energy, James excelled particularly in gymnastics and swimming, allowing him to participate in several school competitions.

“I competed in school for swimming, and I also reached regionals for gymnastics. Looking back, it was really a good experience, I even won a bronze medal for it," he recalled.

2.    James’ dad was the reason why he was athletic at a young age, encouraging him to try different sports.

Growing up, James’ dad encouraged him to work hard and play hard. Whenever James would start to doubt himself, it was his dad who kept pushing him to excel.

“My dad introduced me to different types of sports. He didn’t make me do anything I didn’t want to do. Instead, he encouraged me to try new things and to do my best—he even loved taking videos of me in training. Even if I wasn’t good at a sport, he’d keep pushing me to never give up,” James shared.

3.    More than competing and winning, he loves the team camaraderie.

“During competitions, what I enjoyed the most was the team camaraderie—meeting new people and making new friends who were like-minded and passionate about sports," James said.

4.    Despite his busy schedule in front of the screen, James continues to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.

James makes sure that he keeps an active and healthy lifestyle by exercising and eating right.

“Regardless of how hectic my schedule gets, I still make sure I stay active by going to the gym,” said James. “In keeping a healthy lifestyle, it’s important to start your day right by eating a nutritious breakfast; as they say it’s the most important meal of the day.”

James also stressed that discipline is key in achieving a healthy lifestyle. “It’s so easy to fall back on eating unhealthy food knowing that it won’t give you the right energy or nutrients. One needs the willpower to choose to eat the right food, and keep doing it every day. It’s the secret to having a happy and healthy life.

5.    As a MILO kid himself, James wants to help kids #BeatEnergyGap through MILO Champ Moves.

When he sings “drink MILO every day!”, you know he means it.

Growing up in Australia where MILO originated, James drank MILO every day before going to school and sometimes after. “I grew up drinking MILO as a kid. It’s a brand that everyone knows, loves and remember seven from their childhood. So I’m so excited to be part of the MILO family,” shared James.

“Champ Moves in partnership with DepEd is a great program for kids as it will allow them to be more active, more alert during the day, especially for school. When you’re physically active, it’s easier to learn, absorb information, and socialize. The MILO Champ Moves program will surely energize kids to start the day right.”

A Murder Mystery in a Convent in REP’s Agnes of God

Repertory Philippines, more popularly known as REP, celebrates its golden year by bringing back to the stage the gripping and thought-provoking drama, Agnes of God, as part of its exciting 50th year offerings.

Written by notable playwright John Pielmeier, Agnes of God was a long running hit on Broadway which opened in 1982, and adapted into film in 1985. The play explores the lives of three women and their own dark pasts. Their stories are interwoven into the mysterious case of the young nun Agnes who is accused of conceiving and killing her own baby in the convent.

REP first staged Agnes of God in 1983 with veteran actress Pinky Amador playing the role of Agnes for which she won Best Actress in the 1983 Aliw Awards. Pinky returns in this re-staging of the critically-acclaimed production, but this time as Mother Miriam Ruth, the strong-willed Mother Superior who fiercely protects Agnes and claims her pregnancy was an Immaculate conception.

Opposing Mother Miriam Ruth’s non-scientific explanations is court-appointed psychiatrist Dr. Livingstone, played by theatre luminary Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. She comes to examine Agnes’ mental stability and is determined to uncover the truth behind the case, all the while unexpectedly getting in touch with her own past and cause of distrust in religion.

Becca Coates plays the titular role of Agnes, the sweet and innocent nun with a troubled childhood. Her own physical and spiritual turmoil makes her vulnerable to the overwhelming events surrounding her. She fervently denies any knowledge and memory of the night she gave birth to a child in the convent, but she is accused of murder when the baby was found dead in a wastebasket.

This production is an emotional journey and a highly engaging drama that doesn’t back down on highlighting the difference between faith and fact as well as exploring the full range of human emotions.

What really happened that night Agnes supposedly gave birth?

Find out in REP’s Agnes of God directed by the highly-acclaimed Bart Guingona in collaboration with REP-trained and Set Design professor at Fordham University, New York, Joey Mendoza. The show will run from February 17 to March 12 at the OnStage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

Burgos Eats Redefines The Metros Dining Experience

My family really love eating together. True as they say "the family that eat together grow big together".  But kidding aside, our small family of three can still have some conflict with our cravings at times.  We would sometimes end up with doggy bags from a restaurant or fast food and dine in one place where at least ones cravings can be met. But this scenarios does not only happen with family members. Even eating out with friends or office mates can be a minor problem too.

Thursday last week, my co-foodie bloggers got a discovery to answer this dining conflicts... The Burgos Eats allows MGI, the largest casual dining operator in the country to go beyond their individual stores and create a venue where community of diners can interact with each other and some of the company’s loved food bands, such as Yellow Cab, Pancake House, Teriyaki Boy, Krispy Kreme and Jamba  Juice.

From the main entrance of Burgos Eats, you will find a nice long wooden dining set. It is good for at least twenty persons.  Actually, it can accommodate your big group or family. The sweet part of this new establishment is that you can all stay in one long table and order what you like from different restaurants. If the kids wish for pizzas, Yellow Cab is right at the corner. If mom and dad crave for something Japanese, Teriyaki Boy is at the other corner. Well, if grandpa and grandma wants some chicken and spaghetti, the Pancake House is just within your reach.

After getting satisfied with the main course of the meal, desserts should still have a room to give in to your sweet tooth, Krispy Kreme is also there just right beside Jamba Juice, that offers  healthy  smoothies. Now, we may call it a fusion of different dining experiences.

If you will notice, with the challenging lifestyle of today's urban Filipinos, everyday dining  experiences also become more dynamic and a lot more vibrant. Nowadays,we prefer a more convenient place where in our group can enjoy total customer satisfaction from the food we crave for, to being immersed in a more laid back atmosphere where each of us has the opportunity to engage in conversations.

Burgos Eats caters to the modern Filipino food culture by reinventing ordinary dining experiences to make it more fun and a lot more engaging.  The overall blueprint of the shared space dining establishment is designed for better interaction between brands and diners to prosper by allowing the space to become the epicenter of leisure and activity.

Understanding the urban Filipinos distinct dining preferences, Max’s Group , Inc. (MGI) is now venturing into a lifestyle hotspot that is Burgos Circle in Bonifacio Global City to introduce its pioneering shared space , multi-dining concept, Burgos Eats.

"We envision Burgos Eats to become a breath of fresh air in local casual dining scene and enrich the Filipinos’ dining tradition while catering to the country’s changing food culture,"says Jim T. Fuentebella, MGI’s Executive Director for Marketing.  It provides a convenient space for people to get and share ideas over a variety of good food within the buzzing district of Burgos Circle, a highly urbanized hub in the metro characterized  by a community of people leading multi- faceted cosmopolitan lifestyles.

Burgos Eats allows MGI, the largest casual dining operator in the country to go beyond their individual stores and create a venue where community of diners can interact with each other and some of the company’s loved food bands, such as Yellow Cab, Pancake House, Teriyaki Boy, Krispy Kreme and Jamba  Juice.

As off-mall dining experiences become more popular among various age groups in the country, the company feels that its recent foray into a culinary-lifestyle hub gives it an edge against the rest of competition.

A sense of diverse flavor, vibe, and interaction welcomes diners as one into Burgos Eats. Once inside, visitors will find themselves surrounded by the multiple yet distinct characteristics of MGI brands, the vibrant New York mood of Yellow Cab, the friendly Japaneses experience of Teriyaki  Boy, the joyful sweetness of Krispy Kreme treats, the

An even more interesting feautures of Burgos Eats is the freedom and the flexibility that diners can enjoy within the shared space.  Whenever they may be in any of the five MGI stores at the venue, customers can order whatever they want from all five restaurants without having to physically move from ne store to the next. An example would be ordering a smoothie from Jamba Juice without leaving the table in Pancake House, an innovative approach that gives the diners the chance to experience the diversity of dining experiences that MGI offers.

With this blueprint in mind, Burgos Eats transforms one's ordinary dining experience to curate a more intimate yet interactive urban dining experience.  With the rich mix of flavors and interaction.  Burgos Eats thus becomes an epicenter of leisure and activity that gives its community a momentary escapes from the buzz of the busy metro.

We got a chance to experience a food crawl at the Burgos Eats.  It's was a gastronomic day for us bloggers and our kids.

Here's a photo walk of our food crawl activities!

These are just few of the food that we ordered from different restaurants inside Burgos Eats. The other orders came in after another and another.  We shared all these at the long table located at the center of the establishment. I waited for my food from Teriyaki Boy. I love Japanese food! The kids got their food from Pancake House.

After our heavy lunch, kids tried making their own choice of smoothie flavor. It was actually a delight to see them do a thing for themselves and that is to make their own drink.

Our last stop was at the all-time favorite Krispy Kreme. The one located in Bonifacio High Street. It was the very first KK store here in the Philippines. Now, newly renovated ready to serve! We we're welcomed and given a quick tour inside the store. Kids were able to make some designs on the own doughnut.

Nominations are open and are now flooding in for the fifth annual PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, the biggest and most prestigious real estate awards programme in the country.

Presented by Kohler in 2017, the acclaimed international event is organised by PropertyGuru Group, Asia’s leading online property group. The organisers are calling on Philippine developers as well as real estate agents, architects, interior designers, construction companies, suppliers and the general public to continue sending in their nominations online via AsiaPropertyAwards.com/nominations/.

Deadline for submissions is on Friday, 3 March 2017. There is no fee to enter.

BDO, one of the world’s largest accounting and auditing firms, has been appointed once again as official judging supervisor to ensure that the entire nomination and judging process is fair and transparent.

Celebrating its landmark fifth year, the Philippines Property Awards 2017 is the search for the Philippines’ best property developers and developments located in the established and emerging property markets of Mega Manila, Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, in addition to popular and emerging resort destinations and BPO office locations across the country.

Each year since its establishment in 2013, the Philippines Property Awards have highlighted the exciting evolution of the country’s real estate sector. Last year a total of 17 shortlisted developers walked away with 26 awards following a rigorous, six-month nomination and judging process.

Megaworld Corporation collected a record-breaking 17 awards and Highly Commended honours,  including the 2016 Best Developer (Philippines) gong, while SM Prime Holdings Inc and Vista Land Group received multiple accolades, including one for Vista Land chairman Manny Villar for Real Estate Personality of the Year.

The 2017 edition presents an expanded awards scheme. New categories have been added, including a Special Recognition in Sustainable Development, which will reward the sustainable initiatives of outstanding developers from Luzon, Visayas or Mindanao.

There will also be new awards for Best Mixed-Use Development and Best BPO Office Development  reflecting the growth of those sectors.

To be eligible for the Best Developer and Best Boutique Developer categories, entrants must have completed five and two projects, respectively, since January 2012, while projects entering the Development categories should have a completion date between January 2017 and December 2019.

Chairman of the judging panel Lindsay J. Orr, chairman of JLL Philippines, reflects on the judging process and importance of the Awards programme: “The panel had quite a task last year simply because there were a lot more entries across various categories and regions, up by around 50 percent, and the numbers of categories increased as well. We also received entries from new companies. I think it’s because this Awards are becoming more recognised nationwide. It’s certainly on the map and we hope this continues in years to come.”

The official shortlist of nominees, comprising one Winner and up to four Highly Commended in each category, will be revealed by the independent judging panel led by Orr in early April 2017. The black-tie gala dinner is set to take place on 4 May 2017, once again at the Fairmont Makati, the official hotel venue of the Awards.
Prior to the gala dinner, a new Real Estate Personality of the Year will also be named by the editors of Asia’s industry leading Property Report magazine, PropertyGuru Group’s premium publication.

Terry Blackburn, founder and managing director of the Asia Property Awards, says of the growing impact of the Philippines Property Awards: “The support from developers, sponsors, media partners and business associations we have received over the years has been incredible – in the last five years we’ve seen the awards programme expand to include categories specifically created for regional developments in key markets such as Cebu, Davao and Iloilo.”

He adds: “The Awards continues to reflect a very strong Philippine real estate sector, which has now become one of the main drivers of the fast-growing Philippine economy that grew by around 9 percent in 2016.”

With an average attendance of 250 senior industry figures, C-level executives, architects, designers, suppliers, construction, real estate and media professionals, the Philippines Property Awards annual gala dinner is one of the most anticipated industry events of the year.

Each gala begins with a two-hour international cocktail networking reception, followed by a lavish four-course dinner, and the awards ceremony. Previous VIP guests and keynote speakers include Senator Franklin Drilon and former Tourism Secretary Ramon Reyes Jimenez Jr.

The event receives extensive coverage through influential media outfits including official broadcaster ANC (The ABS-CBN News Channel), official newspaper The Philippine STAR, official property portal ZipMatch.com, media partners HGTV Asia, Inquirer.net and Property Report, as well as PropertyGuru Group’s market-leading property portals and affiliates used by more than 23 million property seekers in in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

As always, the Philippines Property Awards promote the country’s best current developments and latest innovations to a wide international audience across Asia. The ‘Best of the Best’ winners from the Philippines will compete for regional accolades in grand finals of the Asia Property Awards held annually in Singapore in November, opening up their businesses to new audiences around the region.

Philippine developers that have won at the grand finals include Ayala Land Inc, which was named Best Developer (South East Asia) in 2014, and SM Prime Holdings Inc and ArthaLand Corporation, which collected the Best Hotel Architectural Design (South East Asia) and Special Recognition in Sustainable Design (South East Asia) gongs, respectively, in 2016.

Hari V. Krishnan, CEO of PropertyGuru Group, comments: “As a ‘hyper-growth’ technology company, PropertyGuru Group’s mission is to pursue greatness, which is mirrored by the exceptional quality of entrants in the Asia Property Awards year after year. One of our main priorities as a company is to guide property seekers in the region as they make their real estate decisions – the Awards is a phenomenal platform that will anchor our offline solutions for consumers.”
