That is what MILO is offering as it officially launches this year's MILO Summer Sports Clinics at the City Club in Alphaland Makati.

The MILO Summer Sports Clinics  will be running from April to May. Offering a healthy summer experience full of fun and excitement where kids can expect to learn the fundamentals of their favorite sport from expert coaches of respected spoting organizations in the country. The program also aims to promote the importance of living an active and healthy lifestyle, and offers the opportunity to gain new friends while acquiring character-building traits they can learn in the process such as confidence, discipline, diligence, perseverance, respect, teamwork and sportsmanship.

As a member of media, our children were given a first look of what's in store for this year's program. MILO provided mini sessions where kids were able to experience what an actual class from the MILO Summer Sports Clinics would be like.

My daughter got her 1st hand trials with the different sports MILO Summer Sports Clinic offers. She had so much fun and she even got excited every time they transfer from one sport area to another. It was a fun-filled and tiring day for the kids, nevertheless, you can still see the genuine smiles from their faces. They made new friends and discovered new sports where they can choose from for their upcoming summer vacation. Something that they can look forward to.

"MILO is committed in helping Filipinos live an active and healthy lifestyle.  That's why this summer, we're encouraging parents to sign their kids up for MILO Summer Sports Clinics so that they can make their kids make the most of their vacation by getting into sports," said Robbie de Vera, Sports Marketing Executive of MILO Philippines during the ceremonies.

As always been dedicated in widening its reach to children with different interests, MILO also announced that it is partnering with new organizations in adding three new sports in this year's roster, GOLFMIX Philippines for Golf, the Philippine Fencing Association for Fencing, and the Triathlon Association of the Philippines for Triathlon.

"We are excited to welcome our new partners in bringing Golf, Fencing, and Triathlon into our roster of sports.  We assure the parents that these new sports partners will uphold the quality associated with the MILO summer Sports Clinics so that their children will get  the best training,' added Robbie.

With the help of MILO, moms can raise their little champions to be active in their sport of choice. Drinking MILO with Activ-Go everyday helps energize both the body and mind so that kids have winning energy to fuel them before every games or activities.

Teleios Enrichment Center : Math Cookies For Everyone!

“Math Cookies for Everyone!” is a seminar-workshop on Singapore Math. Teaching homeschool parents, teachers and non homeschooling families on the fundamentals of non traditional math. According to Wiki, Singapore math is a teaching method based on the national mathematics curriculum used for kindergarten through sixth grade in Singapore. The term was originally coined in the U.S. to describe an approach, originally developed in Singapore, to teaching students to learn and master fewer mathematical concepts at greater detail as well as having them learn these concepts using a three-step learning process. The three steps are: concrete, pictorial, and abstract. In the concrete step, students engage in hands-on learning experiences using concrete objects such as chips, dice, or paper clips. This is followed by drawing pictorial representations of mathematical concepts. Students then solve mathematical problems in an abstract way by using numbers and symbols.

The workshop will teach the fundamentals including introduction to Singapore Math: its success in the global arena, the CPA method, the bar model and an exploration activity to be able to experience first-hand on how an assigned topic may be discussed to the children.

This workshop will be facilitated by none other than Mrs. Ivy Liezl Henson-Vinluan , a Cum Laude Graduate from Philippine Normal University Manila who took a double-degree course in Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics. She is about to finish her Masters of Arts in Mathematics Education in the University of the Philippines Diliman. This math enthusiast, who is usually called by her students as a cool and cheerful teacher, has been teaching math for more than a decade already. She had undergone various local and international trainings in the field of teaching mathematics. She had facilitated a couple of seminar-workshops on this topic as well. She humbly wishes to share with the seminar-workshop participants her personal belief and experiences why and how Singapore Math should be given consideration and applied in the classroom. For her, her greatest achievement as a teacher is when she hears her students say “I love math!”

He even shared their favorite Herbalife Shake recipe.
Remember that a smooth running digestive system relies on the right foods at the right time. Of all our bodily functions, we probably focus more on our digestive system than any other. I’m sure one reason for this is that we have plenty of opportunities to ‘touch base’ with our digestive tract and take a reading. After all, you get signals from your digestive system all day long – everything from “feed me!” to “could you loosen the belt a little?“ to “air comin’ your way!” Your digestive system has a way of speaking up – and has a lot to say about what you put in it… as well as how much and how often.

The problem is many of us eat too much or eat too fast. We don’t eat enough fiber. We skip meals – and then subject our systems to a gigantic plate of food. Considering how much use and abuse our digestive systems have to withstand, it’s a wonder we don’t suffer more than we do. Gas, bloating, “having a hard time going” – not a day goes by that someone doesn’t complain to me about one of these common digestive problems.
Let’s look at what you can do to ease any strain on your digestive system. Common digestive system ‘disturbances': gas, bloating and irregularity. Gas production is a normal part of the digestive process and, unless it’s excessive, usually indicates a healthy intake of fiber and a well-functioning digestive tract. Most foods that contain carbohydrate – anything from beans to bagels – are not completely broken down during digestion, so the resident bacteria in your intestines take over, producing gas as they complete the digestive process. The average person passes gas about 14 times a day, releasing about a half-liter of gas in the process.

If you have experienced it, some people describe feeling bloated after eating – sort of a ‘puffed up’ sensation that comes on rather quickly, mostly in the upper abdomen. It is often the result of air that gets trapped in your digestive tract, which can come from a surprising number of sources. Often, it’s simply a matter of swallowing a lot of air while you eat – which often happens if you eat too fast or do a lot of talking while you’re chewing. Sometimes carbonated beverages can leave you feeling bloated since you’re taking in a lot of air along with your liquid. Some people get that bloated feeling when they eat a fatty meal – fat delays the time it takes for food to leave your stomach, so it can leave you feeling uncomfortable.

Irregularity is one of the most common digestive complaints – it’s also one of the most misunderstood. Many people think if they don’t visit the bathroom on a daily basis, they’ve got a problem. But if things are moving smoothly – whether it’s three times a day or three times a week – you probably don’t have anything to worry about.

During the launch of Herbal Aloe Concentrate Mango, I was able to learn the 7 tips for healthy digestion. It is said that 70% of our body's immune system actually dwells in the digestive tract and that maintaining healthy digestive is crucial to our body's overall well being.

Seven tips for healthy digestion

1. Get enough fiber
Fiber is the structural portion of a plant, so it’s found in fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains. Adults should be eating about 30 grams of fiber a day.  Busy lifestyles contribute to the problem, so aim to have a fruit or vegetable with every meal or snack. Toss some beans into a soup or salad, and choose whole grains over refined “white” breads, cereals, rice and pasta.

2. Get some “good” bacteria
The digestive system is home to thousands of strains of beneficial bacteria that help to break down foods that are resistant to normal digestion, which allows a person to obtain more nutrients from food. The bacteria in the digestive system also help keep the growth of other, potentially harmful, bacteria at bay – thus promoting healthy digestion.

While the idea of consuming bacteria in the diet may not sound appealing, the probiotic bacteria found in yogurt and other fermented foods can promote digestive health. Aside from yogurt, eat fermented soy products (miso, tempeh, kefir), as well as pickled foods like cucumber pickles, sauerkraut and kimchi.

3. Get regular exercise
Exercise is also good for the smooth muscles of your digestive tract. Exercise stimulates the muscles to contract, which keeps things “moving along”. Exercise is also a great way to relieve your body of stress, which makes it particularly good for those whose digestive systems act up when they get stressed out.

4. Don’t go too long without eating
When you go too long without eating, a couple of things are likely to happen. You’ll eat quickly because you’re so hungry, and you’ll eat too much, because you’re starving. Either way, you could end up with some kind of indigestion. Your digestive system is likely to be a lot happier if you eat regular meals and snacks throughout the day.

5. Take your time when making dietary changes
Often time when people are bothered by gas, they figure the best thing to do is to eliminate ‘gassy’ foods like beans or broccoli from their diet. But rather than eliminating these healthy foods, try eating just small amounts over several days to give your system time to adjust. Similarly, if you’re trying to add more fiber to your diet, work your way up to the recommended 25-30 grams of fiber gradually.

6. Take your time eating and eliminating
When you eat too fast, not only does it lessen the enjoyment of your meal, you’re also more likely to swallow air, which can lead to gas build up and bloating. When you eat too quickly, you’re more likely to overeat too, since it takes for the stomach about 20 minutes to tell the brain that it’s full. This can lead to further digestive discomfort. Lastly, when nature calls, act on it immediately. Too many people put off visits to the restroom if the urge to “go” strikes at an inconvenient time. Sure, the urge may pass, but if you put it off, you’re more likely to have trouble getting the job done.

7. Meet your fluid needs
Fluid helps the fibers in foods to “swell” and helps to add more bulk to the material passing through the lower digestive tract, which keeps things running smoothly. Watery fruits and vegetables go a long way in meeting fluid needs, but it’s still important to drink fluid throughout the day, too.

We have to remember that digestion is the process by which our food is broken down into a form that can be absorbed into the blood system and carried to cells throughout the body to provide nourishment and energy. And having a healthy digestion is a big factor for a healthy you.

Repertory Philippines : Almost, Maine

Oh yes, love is on the air! Almost, Maine can make you laugh and love again...

ALMOST, MAINE AT REP
By Joy Virata

“Mythical... sometimes fantastical” are the words that director Bart Guingona uses to describe Repertory Philippines’ new production “Almost, Maine” which opens at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1 on February 19. Set in an imaginary town of Almost in the state of Maine, USA, nine unusual love stories unfold.  Four actors play the different characters of each story.  “The stories are mythical, yet real— simple, yet profound” Mr. Guingona continues.  “John Cariani, the playwright, takes a cliche and turns it over on its head by making it literal”.  Almost, Maine is a gentle, funny, play involving real people dealing with affairs of the heart. “Cute will kill it” warns the author (himself an actor) and the actors play their parts with complete truth letting the strangeness of the characters, the dialogue, and the absurd situations create the comedy.

“I had a hard time choosing the cast”, said Mr. Guingona.  “Almost, Maine” is an acting bonanza and many actors read for it.  Many were good but I had to mix and match ages, physical appearances, and types.”  This is understandable since the actors play different characters and interact with one another in different ways in the different stories that seamlessly blend into each other.

Finally four REP veterans were chosen.  Jamie Wilson (recent ALIW Awardee for his work in Run For Your Wife and part of REP’s retinue of actors since he was eight); Reb Atadero, (The Graduate, Altar Boys, Sweeney Todd);  Caisa Borromeo (The Secret Garden, Little Women);  and Natalie Everett (The Secret Garden, The Game's Afoot).

“They have good chemistry” said Mr. Guingona who, according to his actors, gave them the freedom to create, to take chances, to be courageous, to “mess up”, and finally to “eliminate all of the wrong and discover the right.”  Their task was to create different people, living in the same small town, on the same day, taking different spiritual journeys. “It was daunting” they agree and they approached their roles with a certain element of fear. Yet they found it exciting as well. They enjoyed the humour, the surprises, and the many magic moments — often irresistably laughing themselves as they watched or rehearsed each story.

February is Valentine’s month.  Almost, Maine offers lovers of all ages and stages the chance to celebrate it with a feel-good play that is funny, heart warming, and that focuses on the best of human nature.

Almost, Maine plays Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Saturday and Sunday matinees as 3:30 until March 13 at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Paseo de Roxas cor. Legazpi St., Makati City. For tickets and reservations call Repertory Philippines at 8433570 or Ticket World at 8919999.  For information about the play log on to www.repertoryphilippines.ph or visit REP’s Facebook page. Ticket prices range from P400 to P800. It is in English.

DreamWorks: KUNG FU PANDA 3 in Cinemas on March 9!

I am a fan of cartoons and one of my favorite is none other than KUNG FU PANDA. I have watched the 1st and the second ones at least multiple times together with my 7 year old daughter and yet it can still make us laugh and enjoy every moments. This is a feel-good movie to bring your family together for a movie bonding.

In 2016, one of the most successful animated franchises in the world returns with its biggest comedy adventure yet,  KUNG FU PANDA 3.  When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters.  But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible, learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas.

You'll never go wrong with this 3rd one. Still awesome and hilarious! I'm so glad to have watched it at the press screening last Saturday at the IMAX SM Megamall. I enjoyed the big screen and the 3d effects! This movie should be seen in IMAX! My daughter had a blast wearing her 3d eye glasses with her new-found friends!

They had so much fun watching with their 3d eye glasses on. Is it so redundant? Really, even I myself enjoyed this IMAX 3D! I am telling you, this movie is best seen in IMAX! Totally awesome animation! My daughter told me that her favorite part was when the stones and rocks went through her face and her friends. Kung Gu Panda may be a simple story for kids and adults but it surely rocks the kids in us. The bunch of pandas made the story more interesting and stunning! Po's pure heart never fails to mesmerize me...

I don't want to give so much of the hints...better watch it yourself. All I can say is that, Be the best you!

Here's the trailer!

Just for you to have an idea...Here are the characters voice over.
