LUMU Beerhouse & Filipino Kitchen : A New Place To Enjoy

The newly opened tambayan restaurant called LUMU was named after its chef, Luigi Muhlach. The word LUMU derived from the first two letters of the chefs name LU for Luigi and MU from Muhlach. With the name that also happens to be a clever abbreviation for "Love you, miss you", LUMU is every bit the fix of nostalgia that leaves you with pun intended, good taste in your mouth.

LUMU is a new place that offers good food, good drinks and of course good times, just a friendly neighborhood Filipino tamabayan (by standers place). A beer house with safe environment unlike other so called beerhouses. Each corner has a unique design that most young adults or millenials can also enjoy to have photo shoots before diving to their food. Yes, the place is so instagramable! You'll see, it has a stage for live entertainment. If you'll try to bring your dad or your uncle here, they will surely enjoy your treat.

The Ang Foodie Family was so happy to witness the official opening night of LUMU. A star - studded event plus overflowing food and fun with our KTG group.

Take a quick glance of the interesting and unique Filipino dishes that we were able to try during the launch.

Taro and Kamote Nachos Overload
This is your Pinoy version of nachos here in Philippine.  This is so good and so addicting. The toppings and the sauce made it more yummier.

Sisig

The Pares Cuapao
Lumu’s signature beef pares in cuapao. Our young foodie can finish an order of two of this. Something like a light snack but still heavy... Oh, I love it too!

The LuMu A-Bangers sampler
A collection of hugots.... this platter of longganisa is good for sharing. It goes with titles of different emotions that we Filipinos call hugot. Each sausage has a special taste of our Filipino delicacy. The titles itself can also explain the meaning of the flavor.

Love you Kaldereta- de Vino
Looks good, right? So tantalizing! This luscious baby is a goat ribs cooked with red wine, tomato sauce, chorizo and shitake. I so fell in love with this one, I don't even know how to cook this right. Now, whenever I feel like having some Kaldereta, LUMU is just few minutes drive away from my place.

Yikes, don't know how to call this set of bbq sticks...but these are truly awesome!
Fresh Oysters
From LUMU menu you can enjoy goat meat, to comfort classics such as adobo, kaldereta, and bistek tagalog, to an assortment of sausages that are, well, certified bangers, the team serves a strong selection of fairly-priced hapag-kainan hits that successfully fuse classicflavors with contemporary flair.

Megaritas

I am not a drunkard but a tall glass of this baby, I surely can't resist. That's right, margaritas in glasses big enough to last for a full session of much-need chikahan. There are wide selections of drinks where you can go gaga!

We had a true gastronomic night! Another DAEtoRemember for The ANG Foodie Family.

LuMu Beerhouse and Filipino Kitchen is located at the 3/F of Greenbelt 3, Ayala avenue, Makati City.

Mom and Abi's Paradise Dynasty Experience at The Podium

Have you thought of paradise at times? Because I never thought of one, until the day I have found Paradise Dynasty. Such an enchanting place to dine and unwind. You can even have a feel of a real Chinese Royalty when you get inside. Our luncheon meeting was truly awesome.

XIAO LONG BAO
The World's Finest XIAO LONG BAO is already here in Manila. Recently, it just opened its second paradise at the New Podium. The Xiao Long Bao is best served hot and piping. A Dimsum filled with hot tasty broth. And would you believe? Every pieces is meticulously wrapped in 18 folds? That's amazing!

We started our heavenly lunch with the Xiao Long Baos and Dimsum. And it goes like this...

Before you make a move, better learn the right way on how to eat the famous XIAO LONG BAO. You should not get so excited to pick it up with your chopsticks and put it straight to your mouth. Or else, you'll definitely end up with burned tongue and mouth. Just like what happened to someone I know..hahahaha!

Now how to eat Xiao Long Bao? Start with being careful using your chopsticks. Gently pick it up from the bamboo plate,  then transfer it to your soup spoon with your other hand. If you are able to do it without any spill.. Congratulations! The next thing you should do is to make a tiny hole using your chopsticks or you may nibble a small hole first to let the steam out.  Try to take a few sip of the soup, once you can already handle the level of hotness then that's the perfect time to eat the entire dumpling and enjoy its flavors.

The colorful one you see on top is the SPECIALTY DYNASTY Xioa Long Bao. It has 8 colors with 8 flavors. So, if you are the curious type and first time here, I bet you'll go for this one. Just to let you know, there's also a proper way to enjoy these. To ensure the optimum tasting of these 8 distinct flavours, start with the original flavour, the plain one in the middle. Next should be the Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Ruffle, Cheesy, Crab Roe, Garlic and Szechuan to end it. A culinary concept by Paradise Group.

These plain ones is the Original Legendary XIAO LONG BAO. Our young foodie's choice.  She can finish one serving of this.

You also have to liberty to order your other flavors. Say for example, after tasting the 8 flavor, you fell in love with one or two variants, they also offer single flavor basket of Xiao Long Bao.
DIMSUM

Pork Dumpling in Hot Chili Vinaigrette, steamed and already served with chili sour sauce.

Radish Pastry is a beautiful dimsum that looks so crunchy from the outside. The stuff inside are shredded radish. Never thought it was radish though.

Charcoal Custard Lava Bun, another personal favorite of our young foodie Abi. It's also served hot, so be careful before giving a bite.  According to Abi, it's so good! According to mommy, Abi is correct! This black shiny thingy is one of the New items from the menu.

APPETIZERS

Steamed Glutinous Rice Stuffed in Red Dates, if you do not have a date, just order this one. At least it's red and sweet and a better date for Valentine's day. It's like suman (Filipino sweet sticky rice)and something like a dessert to me.

The Lettuce Roll with Homemade Sesame Sauce is another personal favorite of our young foodie. She love veggies. This is a good healthy option. Just a simple dip into the homemade sesame dressing and viola! A Chinese version of salad! I love it too! The Chilled Tofu with Century Egg on top has a real smooth texture and is also good for tofu fan like me.

Chilled Baby Spinach with Vermicelli is love. To a spinach fan like me, I can finish at least two servings of this. New love from menu!

The nuts from Kung Pao Chicken made my day. And it's given, the chicken bites are awesome too. A new baby from the menu!

Crispy-fried Crystal Prawns tossed with Salted Egg Yolk is my personal favorite. I really love prawns and salted egg. Putting them together is like heavenly taste! Another new from the exciting dishes of Paradise Dynasty.

Stir-fried Shredded Pork in Black Bean Sauce served with Chinese Crepes is a sure winner for Mr. Ang's tummy, who's absent today. Wrapping this baby with this crepes is such a joy. So easy and simple. No complicated instructions needed.

Scrambled Egg White with Fish and Conpoy. Yes, those are egg whites with white fish meat that you can no longer identify with its both white color. I got embarrassed with this one...first time to try it. While the rest of the friends from the table was busy catching up, I did the honor to mix it together. The thing now, I thought it was just as simple as mixing any food. The server saw me and corrected me...I stand corrected, literally. There's also a proper way to do it. See the egg yolk in the middle? This one is also served hot and better eaten as soon as possible. The thing now, once served on your table you should mix the egg yolk right away by breaking it first and spreading it around before you fully mix it together. Yikes, blunder. Lesson learned with this bowl... you may ask first if you have no idea.

SZECHUAN CUSINE

Poached Sliced Fish in Szechuan Chili Sauce was a challenge to me. I know I can handle Korean noodles. I thought I could handle it too. I was wrong. I only took a cute bite of the fish but not able to take another one. Can't take its level of spiciness. This is for the bold ones. But promise, it smells so good! I saw my other friends enjoying it a lot. Maybe I should try to get use it... I recommend this magical bowl if you feel like you are under the weather. It will definitely help you recover fast.
LA MIAN

DESSERTS

As my favorite line, there's always room for dessertssssss! On top is the Pan-fried Pumpkin Pastry, it's like a tiny pancake but it taste like tikoy that is truly crunchy. While the dark brown dessert is the  Pan-fried Pancake with Red Bean Paste, also a good piece but a bit sweet for me.

Homemade Barley Tea  &   Water Chestnut drink

PARADISE DYNASTY, a concept originated from Singapore captures the finer points of bygone eras in the contemporary style. Immerse in the imperial culture and savour the exquisite flavours from the northern and southern China at Paradise Dynasty.

The Paradise Dynasty at The New Podium opened its doors last December 17, 2018. And today they introduced to us the new lovely dishes to love. Such a gastronomical dining experience.
